Church Council

The church council meets regularly on the first Tuesday of the month.  The twelve members are elected by the congregation at its annual meeting.  This group of congregational representatives makes decisions about the overall ministry of Advent and over sees the work of our committees.
 

Committees

The Adventure Place Board is the administrative committee for Adventure Place.  Adventure Place is a signature ministry and mission of the church that provides developmental child care for children age 3 years to 6th grade in the community.

The Children's Ministry Committee responsibilities include the planning and support of the educational ministries of the congregation.  They also plan and help coordinate numerous special events throughout the year.  These events involve young people of all ages, including many geared to the entire family.

The Executive Committee serves as an administrative arm of the Council for the purpose of expending Council business.  This group, consisting of the Council officers, also serves as the personnel committee.

The Fellowship Committee helps create a positive atmosphere in the congregation and helps members establish and strengthen bonds of friendship by providing additional settings for members to be together.

The Memorial Committee makes recommendations for the expenditure of memorial gifts given to the congregation.

The Outreach Committee helps the congregation share the love of Christ with others and seeks opportunities for service, which express our love and concern about social needs in an active way.

The Property Committee oversees the maintenance and improvements made to the building and grounds.

The Stewardship Committee plans, monitors and reviews the financial resources for the congregation.  They communicate with and encourage members to act as responsible stewards of their time, talents and gifts.

The Worship Committee is responsible for planning the worship services at Advent.  They do so keeping in mind one of our core values that drive us as a congregation, that we; provide enriching worship through word, music and sacrament.
